As a group we decided firstly on the idea of Culture and looking at different aspects of culture such as; religion, fashion and youth. We each wanted to take a different aspect to create our own images and look at a practitioner to go along with our festival theme.
We talked about portraits and how this seemed the best idea to combine the different aspects, and how we wanted to represent our work. For example, I wanted to look at fashion culture, mainly on the street. I wanted to take my photographs of people in the street, full length images showing their whole outfit and how they styled themselves.
We shared our ideas with our tutor who brought up the idea that 'Culture' may be a too broad subject and would not allow us to focus on the ideas we want. So we got together to try to focus our ideas smaller and find a more concentrated festival theme.
This brought us onto Identity, by focussing on identity we can still look at how people, look, act, see things and show how this portrays their identity and personality.
IDENTITY. The fact of being who or what a person or thing is.
Our Mission Statement: ID festival introduces the idea of cultural identities. It steps far beyond stereotypical preconceptions of what makes up a human identity. The two week event aims to bring the different cultures together exposing individuals work for the public to connect their own prejudgements to the people within the images. Held in Riga Art Space, a multifunctional exhibition hall which primarily aims at popularising and supporting visual arts, in this case photographers.

I chose to look at the things that make us all different such as fingerprints and eye colour. I want to take the images with a macro lens to show a lot of detail. These were my some of the images I found when researching....
